Last Train to Paris


Geometric, collaged, stiff yet rounded, and composed of zones of matte and shine, with cashmere dimpled to look like industrial foam and fur shaved into quilting is what we saw at Balenciaga. "I was working on something domestic. Casual things mixed with classic. And a kind of rigidity," said Nicolas Ghesquière, listing some of the extraordinary imagery and manipulations of materials and color that went intto Balenciaga's computer-age vision of couture. Can we appreciate the beauty in untraditional looks?
